A business website in Chennai costs between ₹8,000 and ₹80,000 in 2026, and the spread is not about quality — it is about what you are actually buying. A one-page site for a salon or clinic sits at ₹10,000–₹20,000. A multi-page site runs ₹25,000–₹60,000. An agency with an office charges ₹60,000 and up for the same thing with more people attached.
Below is the full breakdown, what moves each number, and how to read a quote. Brightleaf Studio publishes its own prices, so nothing here is a teaser for a number revealed on a call.
The bands, and what you get in each
| Band | What it is | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| ₹3,000–8,000 | A purchased template with your details typed in. | Often built on a builder account the designer owns. Ask who owns the domain and whether you get files. |
| ₹10,000–20,000 | One-page custom build by a freelancer or small studio. | Quality varies enormously. Ask for a live URL and time it on your own phone. |
| ₹25,000–60,000 | Multi-page custom site, several services, proper structure. | Make sure the page count is justified by real search demand, not padding. |
| ₹60,000+ | Agency work, with account management included. | You are paying for coordination. Ask whether you can speak to the builder directly. |
| ₹0 + monthly | “Free website” rented from a platform. | You keep nothing when you leave, and the monthly never stops. |
What actually moves the price
Page count — but only real pages
The honest driver is how many pages have enough to say and enough search demand to deserve existing. A dental clinic where patients search separately for implants, root canals and braces genuinely needs three pages. A salon where everything is one price list needs one. Padding a quote with an “Our Values” page is the most common way a ₹12,000 job becomes a ₹35,000 job.
Whether your content exists
If your services, prices and hours are written down somewhere, the build is fast. If they have to be extracted over three weeks of WhatsApp messages, that is real work and it belongs in the price. Businesses that arrive with a printed price card get quoted lower, consistently.
Booking and payments
WhatsApp booking should cost nothing extra. A real appointment system with slots, reminders and deposits adds ₹15,000–₹40,000 plus a monthly platform fee, and most local businesses in Chennai do not have the volume to justify it in year one.
Photography
Budget ₹5,000–₹15,000 for a photographer for a salon or clinic interior in Chennai, paid to them. Phone photographs in daylight are genuinely fine for most one-page sites and beat stock images every time.
Costs that are not in the quote
- Domain: ₹800–₹1,200 a year for a .in or .com, paid to the registrar. Must be registered in your name.
- Hosting: ₹0 for a static one-page site on Cloudflare Pages or Netlify. ₹3,000–₹8,000 a year if someone puts you on WordPress hosting.
- Maintenance: ₹1,000–₹3,000 a month is the normal range in Chennai. Optional, and should stay optional.
- SSL certificate: ₹0. It is free and automatic. Being charged for one is a signal about everything else in the quote.
Five questions that separate a good quote from a bad one
- Whose name is the domain registered in? If it is not yours, walk away. This is the single most common way small businesses get trapped.
- Do I get the source files at launch? The answer should be an immediate yes.
- What happens if I stop paying you? The site should keep working. If it goes dark, you were renting.
- Can I see a live site you built, on my phone? Not a screenshot. A URL. Then count the seconds until it appears.
- What is the total, including everything? Get one number in writing before paying a deposit.
Is expensive better?
Not reliably. When this studio measured 32 real Chennai business websites, the ones that loaded worst were frequently the ones that looked most expensive — heavy sliders, video headers and animation libraries, arriving over four seconds late on mobile data. Price buys you effort, not judgement, and judgement is what makes a local business site work.
The most useful test is the one you can run yourself: open a designer’s own portfolio on your phone, on mobile data, and count. If their own site is slow, yours will be too.
What this studio charges
Brightleaf Studio charges ₹12,000 for a one-page site, delivered in 5 days, and ₹25,000 – ₹45,000 for a multi-page build. Care plans are ₹1,500 per month and optional. The domain goes in your name, the source files are yours at launch, and the site keeps working if you stop paying.
